Madden 2009 is one great game

Note: I will admit: I wrote too much. Just dont read the review and go buy it.

If you want the first true next generation Madden, this is basically it.

I bought Madden '06 for the XBOX 360 when the 360 came out. It was basically the worst Madden I ever played. It had medicore graphics for a system with so much graphical power and alot of features that was in the PS2/XBOX versions were omitted on the cutting room floor. How can you cut the franchise mode?

Madden 2007 was once again gimped with barely noticable updated graphics and the online was awful. About 25% of the time when I would try for a quarterback sneak online, the game would disconnect. It was a bug that was never fixed by EA Sports.

Finally, Madden 2008 was really the first major step for the Madden franchise on a next-generation console. It had all the modes that the PS2 had and it also had improved gameplay and online play. The only thing that it really lacked was that next generation graphics.

Well, this brings us to Madden 2009, the 20th anniversity of the franchise. I can say with certainly this is the best Madden since Madden 2002(with Michael Vick on the cover). Not only is the gameplay up to par, the graphics have finally lived up to its potential. I went back and read a couple of the reviews online and most of the reviewers basically said the same thing.

The Madden gameplay will always make or break a Madden game. When you have the marriage between great gameplay and great graphics, that is truly a rare thing. I know I am harping on the graphics, but with some games graphics matter. Sports games is the one genere that needs to have great graphics. The whole interface has been revamped to look like a real football game. The stadiums are gorgeous and EA claims they have a new weather effect system in place. Of course if you want the best results, you have to play the game on an HDTV. For better results, use an HDMI cable.

As far as gameplay, they have added some new exciting features that I have messed around with a bit. They have this new feature during franchise mode where you get to rewind a play. I dont know how many you get a game or if you can earn them throughout a game, but I received one during my game. Basically what it does is if you make a play that you dont like, you get to rewind it and play that down again. Its kind of like a lifeline. Now I dont know how far you can take it, such as what if you throw an interception or an opponent throws an 80 yard TD, but its a great new feature to learn from your mistakes.

They also have something called Madden test. This is where John Madden gives you something to do like run the ball as many times as you can in the endzone. You gain IQ points out of this. Also, they added online leagues. I havent been online yet so I cant really comment on the online portion of the game. Like all Madden's, once your hone your skills, its best to test them out against others. Online play has always been my favorite part of Madden.

Anyways, I can harp on Madden all day long if I wanted to. Its on XBOX360/PS3/Wii/PS2. It retails on the Xbox 360 for 59.99 and the collectors edition is 89.99. I think if you buy it at Toys R US they give you an action figure of Favre for free. It might have been a launch day promotion though. BTW, Sams Club is selling the PS3/Xbox 360 version for 55 bucks plus while you wait in line, they'll print you a new high-res cover with Favre in a Jets jersey. LAWLS.

Caps get first test of the season

The Caps would never lie to you. We would be lying if we told you this game wasn't all that important. The first true test will be against the Cincinnati Norris Ninjas (4-1). Not only is it the first opponent we play with a winning record, they beat us in Season 2 in a nailbitter, 9-6. We returned the favor last season with another close game; edging them out 20-13. But what concerns the Caps is unlike prior season, the Ninjas actually have an offense this year. Now, I dont know who had the idea that it might just be a good thing to have an offense to complenment a great defense, but they finally decided to put together a servicable, Baltimore Ravens 2000 team like offense.

But, in the world of Goalline Blitz, you cant have both. Though they been scoring way more this season they have also allowed alot of points go through the pipeline than normal. Who would have thought the Chicago Sirius could put up 21 points on this Ninjas?

So will this be the Caps first lost of the season? No it will not. Were just too good.

Stickman puts Caps at number 3

Good ole stickman, who use to put our team in the low teens in his weekly rankings, decided to finally put us in the top 3 for the first time. Anyways, Caps players dont think like that because Caps players always believe they are number one. Anyways, Philly Pythons somehow edge the Island Shaka Brahs for the first spot. Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers and Boston DrunkN'Disorderly round out the top 5.

Caps kill the Broncos 38-6; stay undefeated

Bowling Green, OH - The tailgaters were ready. The fans wearing the blue and orange were ready. The whole state of Ohio was ready. A victory in the rivalry would give the Broncos validatation and bragging rights for the whole season. But the power runningback from South Africa would not be stopped on this day. With 20 broken tackles, 154 yards, and 3 TD's, Olaf Kolzig proved once again why he should be MVP of the league.

But the game was not without controversy. During pre-game warmups, a camera caught Olaf spraying a substance on his jersey. Broncos coach, stoneyredneck, demanded the refs look into it. But much ado about nothing, Olaf was making pancakes and waffles for his offense linemen and accidentally sprayed PAM on his jersey. It was removed before the game.

"You know I try to motivate my teammates with a healthy breakfast and we were rudely interrupted by the Broncos coaching staff. This gave me the motivation to run through their defensive line for 60 minutes," said Olaf Kolzig.

Michael Nylander stayed perfect with a TD to Traphixx Anderson and had no interceptions. Joe Championship and Peter Rad both had 86 yards of receiving.

On defense, Brent Hawkins had the only sack. Sir Chuea had 7 tackles with 6 pass deflections. The defense kept the Broncos offense out of the zone after giving up a one yard rushing TD. And for some ungodly reason, Boo Boo Mers botched the extra point making people think the Broncos had scored two fieldgoals instead of a touchdown.

Offense Player of the Game: Olaf Kolzig - 20 broken tackles, 3 TD, 153 Yards

Defense Player of the Game: Sir Chuea - 7 tackles, 6 Pass deflections

Ironman Player of the Game: Phil Mashifter - 3 punt returns, 97 yards, average 31.7

Prince Darius miss tackles so far this year: 0

Miguel Sosa miss fieldgoals so far this year: 0

Where is Spudsy?

On the eve of the Broncos/ Caps game, Spudsy is nowhere to be found or heard from. Inside sources tell us that he locked himself up in his bedroom at the Motel 6 in Bowling Green with the kicker. The paparazzi have been camped outside the Motel 6 to get a shot of the uber jack-o-lantern all week to put on Deadspin.com's douche of the week.

Earlier in the season, Spudsy was traded to the Indiana Wildkats for a 15th round draft pick. He is still the backup on that team as well. When hes not playing for the Wildkats, he is the mascot for the Bowling Green Broncos.

Rivalry Week: Will the Broncos win a game in the rivalry?

Not likely.
Fact: Washington Caps defeated the Broncos in Season 2 to knock them out of playoff contention

Fact: The Caps defeated the Broncos 22-17 in Season 3

For the first time, these two teams play each other in the first half of the season. It might not be an important game to some, but to the respectable teams, its basically the Game of the Year and it established bragging rights for the whole season.

Vegas has the Caps by 10.

Fdisk has them by 46. FDisk is probably right.

Washington Caps rain on Seattle Rainmakers loser parade; win 59-10

Wasington D.C. - Irony? With temperatures at 50 degrees and a blast of heavy rain throughout the game, the Washington Caps managed to put up 59 points against the hapless Rainmakers, who now fall to 1-3.

Olaf Kolzig, who is averaging 4 touchdowns a game, put another 4 TD's up on the board, putting his season total at 15. He is second in the league for rushing touchdowns and 3rd in the league for rushing yards.

Traphixx Anderson, who became a co-starter at punt returns this year, made it known to the world that he is the new online version of Deion Sanders. With 3 runbacks for 40.5 yards, this Devin Hester look alike is becoming the beast of the east.

"Yea, i sees the ball punt in the air, look like a big brown watermelon so i go after it and catch it and act like whitey trying to steal my watermelon. That my mentality when ummm, uhhh, try to you know, run the ball back," said a worn out and tired Traphixx Anderson.

Joe Championship also had a big game at punt returning and caught a touchdown as well.

The Caps once again shutout their opponents offense. After three shutout quarters, the Caps put in the backups and let 10 points on the board, or otherwise it would have been another "official" shutout by the Caps. The defense was led by Brent Hawkins with two monster sacks. Chris Simon, the starting free safety, also had his first interception of the season. The defense only allowed 21 rushing yards the whole game.

Offense Gameball: Olaf Kolzig - 151 yards, 4 TD's

Defense Gameball: Brent Hawkins: 2 sacks for 10.5 yards loss

Ironman Gameball: Jones Freaking Drew - 2 TD's, 101 rushing yards

Prince Darius Miss Tackles so far this season: 0

Miguel Sosa missed field goals this season: 0
